Guidelines For Consumers

Basically Consumer Laws Deal with two type of issues, Defective Product and Defective or Faulted Service. Consumer Laws protect the rights of Consumers. Consumer should also take interest for his or her own rights otherwise there will be no relief for Consumer.

Duties of a Consumer

Check date of manufacturing

Check date of expiry of product

Always get receipt of product

Always get the Guaranty or Warranty Card

Service hired/purchased receipt

When a Consumer feels that there is any fault or defect in the product and there is a defective or faulted service then he or she can file a complaint in consumer courts but before filling of consumer complaint, consumer will have to send a Legal Notice to the provider of defective service or faulted service or defective product or faulted product for 15 days in which consumer  will state the allegation against the service provider or against the provider of defective or faulted product and consumer will also state the reason for claiming of damages which consumer had to suffer due to the defective or faulted service and product.

 

After passing of 15 days if the service provider or provider of defective and faulted product not resolved or compensate the consumer then consumer will file a complaint in the Consumer Court and consumer will have to prove the case with documentary evidence. if consumer successful to prove case with evidence then Consumer Court will passed a Decree or Judgment in favour of Consumer.

 

It is pertinent to mention there that there is not court fee levy in Consumer Cases and court will also return the Lawyer fee or Legal Expenditure of Consumer

 Example of Defective or Faulted Product

Out of order Mobile before expiry of guaranty or warranty

Out of order TV or any fault in TV before expiry of guaranty or warranty

Any Fault in Refrigerator  before expiry of guaranty or warranty

These are the few examples of defective or faulted product

Examples of Defective or Faulted Services

There are the few examples of faulted or defective services in which the consumer can file the consumer complaints against the following persons

Doctors

Lawyers

Bank

Engineers

Mobile Companies

Housing Societies

Shopkeepers

Transporters

Railway

Insurance Companies

Dry Cleaners

Catering Services

AND

All Government Departments Like WASA, WAPDA,  Sui Gais etc.
